High Warlord

Legion Warlord The Legion High Warlord is the supreme commander of the Legion forces. Chosen from among their warriors through a 'Grand Melee', a battle where all comers face off in a free-for-all with the last man or woman standing at the end crowned the victor.

The High Warlord is originally from a single Tribe, and while it is impossible for them to change to complete impartiality they are expected to consider the needs of the entire Legion over the needs or wants of their own tribe or themselves.

A High Warlords duties are specifically to be the mediator of large scale conflicts between tribes, as well as to be the rallying point for the entire race when a single foe needs to be confronted. In the past previous High Warlords have called the tribes together to eradicate dishonorable tribes, to hunt doing members of the Void Cult or to protect a tribes home town from random elemental assaults.

Grand Melee

The Grand Melee is the event that crowns the High Warlord for life. It takes place in a grand coliseum built specifically for the purpose and made out of a base of Aethersteel. The coliseum houses not just the location for the melee itself, but also has spaces for spectators.

Each tribe is permitted to enter a set number of contestants based on the amount of territory that each tribe possesses. These spots are sometimes hotly contested, however the tradition of the melee also holds a large amount of politics to it. Not all tribes will have someone whom they feel is up for the challenge of becoming High Warlord, and often times one tribe will have an individual that they wish their entire tribe to support. Because of this one individual of a tribe will often find the other positions in their tribes roster filled with warriors whose job it is to support their champion. In addition, through politicking one can gain the support of the warriors of a friendly tribe as well. In the end the Melee will quickly dispatch of those who are alone, and then turn to a battle between two batches of champions.
