Aeon Card: Accurate Sensors
ROM found himself holding his breath as he clung to the side of the monorail for dear life, the world flying past him at blinding speeds. The icy wind threatening to tear away the hold that the black clad infiltrator desperately tried to maintain.
‘Crossing districts barrier in 10 seconds’, came the soft voice into his ear, ‘Shutting down all EM signatures and going dark’.
There was a strange sense of nothingness as the ever present hum and buzz of electronics on ROM’s body shut down and sat dormant, trying to shade themselves from the systems specifically designed to ferret them out and prevent their crossing districts. This was the life of an Infiltrator however, to cross the lines others built to prevent you from gaining access.
ROM didn’t have time to relax, as blinding lights suddenly exploded onto him. The whine of automated sentry turrets powering up, reaching him over the sounds of the monorail.
‘Well there goes that plan’, said the soft voice in his ear once more returning, ‘They’ve spotted us. Do we abort?’
“Negative” was all ROM had time to reply, as the sentry cannons opened fire.
Among the Teknocrats everything is recorded and analyzed. The Mainframe’s nodes work throughout the entire Teknocrat society constant looking for holes in efficiency and behaviors that are counter to the advancement of their people. Teknocrat citizens return to their dormitories each night and at night have their minds scanned by the Mainframes systems, reading the behaviors of the people it is charged with and making slight alterations to the community based on the direction of it’s wards.
DNA sniffers are placed throughout the BioDomes, constantly taking air samples to monitor who has walked past that location, tracking the movements of it’s people as well as insuring those who do not have proper access to an area are denied such access. This goes beyond just standard security measures, and goes all the way down to one’s social position. Inside Teknocrat society every citizen is given a social score, a ranking that combines an individual’s personal accomplishments, team accomplishments, and self-worth and forms a value to which others can rank themselves against you. This also determines the type of lifestyle that you are entitled to. With many restaurants and establishments having strict social score minimums to enter.
However with everything in Teknocrat society, when someone makes something, someone else seeks to outdo it, or to circumvent it. Hacking is common on these sensor terminals, as is a very prosperous black market of illegal social score cards. Infiltrators seek to gain access to restricted locations and information, both for corporate espionage and to individual gains. As these groups get more advanced at bypassing the security systems and sensors in place, the security companies produce better and better methods of preventing them. This cycle of defend, circumvent, defend produces a reach culture of progress and as such the Mainframe does little to prevent such efforts of bypassing the security protocols, at least when it is in the Mainframes best interest.
Teknocrats pressing advantage over their opponents is that their weapons hit hard and from a great distance. By adding Accurate Sensors to your deck you can gain an entire extra turn of firing superiority before losing that advantage. Especially when fighting units such as Jump Troopers who can leap long distances quickly the ability to take out 1-2 of them prior to their leap can be the difference between holding them back and being crushed beneath them.
To get the maximum value from this card you should pair it with Marked for Destruction but a more fun combo can be to play this to your commander and mix it with Plasma Blast.
